Hospice-Friendly Support in a Home, Not a Hospital

When a resident is receiving hospice or palliative care, we coordinate directly with that outside team so care stays consistent, and the home stays calm and familiar.

Understanding Hospice & Palliative Care

They're related, but not the same thing.

Palliative Care

Comfort-focused care that can start at any point in a serious illness — often alongside treatment aimed at curing or slowing the disease. The goal is easing symptoms and improving quality of life, not necessarily preparing for end of life.

Hospice Care

Comfort care without curative intent, typically chosen when a physician estimates a prognosis of around six months or less, or when a family decides further treatment isn't the right path. When someone enrolls in hospice, they automatically receive palliative-style comfort care as part of it.

Both can be delivered right inside a Penda home — your resident doesn't have to transfer to a hospital or hospice facility to receive either.

Hospice Support FAQs

Common questions.

No. We're a licensed residential care home. Hospice care is provided by your resident's chosen outside hospice agency, and we coordinate closely with that team so care happens in a familiar home instead of a hospital or hospice facility.

Palliative care is comfort-focused care that can happen at any stage of an illness, alongside curative treatment. Hospice is comfort care without curative intent, typically for someone with a prognosis of around six months or less. Both can be delivered inside our home.

Yes. That continuity — the same room, same caregivers, same routine — is one of the biggest advantages of a small residential home over a hospital or nursing facility transfer.

Absolutely. Family presence is welcomed and encouraged at any time, not limited to set visiting hours.

Our residential rate stays the same — starting at $4,500/month, depending on room type. Hospice services themselves are typically billed separately by the hospice agency, often covered by Medicare.
