Paying for Care
Understanding how to pay for assisted living.
Cost is usually the first question, and the most stressful one. Here's how families actually pay for a home at Penda Homes, in plain language, with no pressure to decide anything today.
What's Included
One rate, starting at $4,500/month — nothing held back for later.
Every Penda Homes rate is all-inclusive. There's no base fee plus add-ons for the things that actually matter — room, meals, 24/7 caregiving, medication management, housekeeping, laundry, and daily activities are all part of the same monthly rate from day one. The exact number depends on room type (shared or private) and the level of care your family member needs, which is why we give a real quote over the phone rather than a generic range online.
How Families Pay
Three common paths — and we're glad to help you sort out which applies.
Private Pay
The most common path. Families cover the monthly rate directly, often using retirement income, savings, or proceeds from selling a home. We accept standard payment methods and can walk through timing with you.
Long-Term Care Insurance
If your family member has a long-term care insurance policy, we'll provide the invoices and care documentation most insurers require for reimbursement. Coverage and claim details depend entirely on the specific policy, so we'd encourage calling your insurer early to understand what's covered.
VA Aid & Attendance
Some veteran families use VA Aid and Attendance benefits toward the cost of residential care. This isn't something we administer directly, but if it applies to your family, tell us when you call — we'll share what we know and help point you toward the right resources.

Some veteran families use VA Aid and Attendance benefits toward the cost of residential care. If this applies to your family, let us know when you call — we're happy to talk through what we know and point you toward the right resources, even where it's outside our direct expertise.
